WHY RESTORE RIVERS?

DURING THE MID 19TH CENTURY THE LARGE SCALE TIMBER FLOATING ERA STARTED. WATER COURSES COMPOSED AS TRANSPORTATION ROUTES FOR THE HUGE AMOUNT OF TIMBER LOGS, ALL THE WAY FROM THE FOREST-RICH INLAND TO THE INDUSTRIES AT COAST.

THE WATER COURSES WERE THEREFORE STRAIGHTENED AND CLEARED OF BOULDERS AND LARGE ROCKS TO FACILITATE THE TIMBER LOGGING ACTION.

AS A RESULT  OF THE CLEARING AND STRAIGHTENING; THE ENVIRONMENTAL HABITATS FOR MOST OF THE AQUATIC SPECIES WAS IN A LARGE EXTENT WIPED OUT .
