RÅNE RIVER

THE UPPERMOST 80 KM OF RÅNE RIVER IS CALM FLOWING, SEPARATED IN NUMEROUS PARTS BY SMALLER RAPIDS. THE RIVER SURROUNDINGS ARE DOMINATED BY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MIRES. STRONG RAPIDS AND LONGER PARTS OF WHITEWATER BEARS FROM MOURKAFORS AT THE ARCTIC CIRCLE DOWNSTREAM 70 KM TO VALV SWAMP. ALONG THIS STRETCH, THE SURROUNDINGS ARE MAINLY DOMINATED BY CONIFEROUS FOREST, WITH ALMOST NO LAKES NEARBY.

THE LAST STRETCH OF 50 KM IS FLAT, VARIYNG OF LARGE LAKES WITH SHORT RAPIDS IN BETWEEN, WITH EXCEPTION FOR KORPFORSEN (RAVEN RAPID). IN THE RIVER VALLEY, FINE SEDIMENT AREAS ARE DOMINATING THE ENVIRONMENT, ON WHICH WIDE AGRICULTURAL LAND IS SITUATED.
