PITE RIVER

THE LARGE LAKES MAVASJAURE AND PIESKEHAURE AT THE NORWEGIAN BORDER CONSTITUTE AS THE MAIN SOURCES TO THE 400 KM LONG RIVER PITE. THE RIVER COMPOSES OF MANY AND LARGE STRETCHES OF SMOOTH WATER, AS WELL AS HUGE LAGES AS TJEGGELVAS, RAPPEN AND VUOLVOJAURE. 

 

PITE RIVER HAS RELATIVELY FEW TRIBUTARIES, YET THE LARGEST ONES ARE VARJIS CREEK AND ABMO RIVER. HOWEVER, ONLY TRIBUTARIES STOCKFORS RIVER AND PARTS OF VITBÄCKEN (WHITE CREEK) WILL BE RESTORED WHITIN THIS PROJECT. 

PITE RIVER KAN BE DIVIDED IN THREE DIFFERENT PARTS DUE TO ITS DIFFERENCES IN CHARACHTERISTICS;

    FROM STORFORSEN DOWN TO CITY PITEÅ AND THE GULF OF BOTHNIA
