BYSKE RIVER

BYSKE RIVER HAS ITS ORIGIN IN JERFOJAUR AREA IN ARVIDSJAURS MUNICIPALITY. THE SOURCES OF THE RIVER ARE RELATIVELY FLAT, HOLDING SEVERAL LAKES. THE LARGEST LAKES ARE WESTERN KIKKEJAUR, LAKE ARVIDSJAUR AND KILVER. ALL OF THESE LAKES ARE SITED IN NORRBOTTENS COUNTY. DUE TO WATER ADDING FROM SURROUNDING TRIBUTARIES, THE RIVER CHANGES FAST TO A WILD, FREE RANGING FOREST RIVER, INCLUDING MURMURING RAPIDS AND HIGH WATER FALLS. THE WATER FALL IN FÄLLFORS IS THE MOST EYE-CATCHING.

THE LIGHTLY ERODED GROUND HAVE ENTAILED THE RIVER TO DIG DEEP, THUS VERY STEEP HILLSIDES HAVE ARISEN ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER.

THE LAST 30 KM IS VERY STEEP AND HAVE A DROP HEIGHT OF 165 METERS UNTIL THE ESTUARY AREAS. THE TOTAL HEIGHT DROP FROM LAKE KILVER IS 362 METER. WITHIN THE PROJECT, TRIBUTARY LÅNGTRÄSK RIVER WILL BE RESTORED.
